Our Indonesian Phinisi; “KM Viehmont”

The “KM (kapal mesin / motor boat) Viehmont”  was constructed in 2012 from the finest Ironwood & Teak hardwoods available in Kalimantan (Borneo). The hull design of Viehmont is based on the Indonesian deep sea tuna fishing boats but slightly wider at 4m beam and strengthened in her length of 20m. This is a proven shape and has been in use in Indonesia boat building for many decades due to its ability in the Southern waters, usually hauling 5 ton of tuna from 200 miles south of Bali.

The 140 horsepower, Mitsubishi diesel engine is ample and very fuel efficient for a boat this size. We cruise at a comfortable 7 knots and use 9 to 10 litres of fuel per hour, which allows us to offer day rates below most other vessels. Resting at anchor we make use of our ample battery bank that is charged by solar panels throughout the day, reducing our fuel consumption further and meaning you can enjoy dinner and cold beer without the constant, annoying hum of a generator, a source of complaints on and to other vessels. SEA Dream Horizon, Bali boat charter and cruises are trying as much as we can to be an Eco Boat and solar panels with no overboard dumping whilst minimising fuel and waste and are the way to go. The Viehmont does have a 5kW generator if we need but for the reasons above we try not to use this at anchor or any other time for that matter.

Accommodation in the boat is comfortable with top of the line custom spring mattresses on 6 beds in a shared main cabin. The 2 most forward beds can be joined for a couple as well as a privacy curtain. We also have another small but private cabin forward of this. The main cabin has AC, operable from the battery supply if required. For the most part it is best to sleep outdoors on the forward peak of the boat, on the roof or under the back deck. Of course inside is very comfortable, some people just enjoy sleeping under the stars. Showers we have one indoor and one outdoor as well as two flushing western style toilets. 

Safety is paramount to SEA Dream Horizon and the vessel, her systems and crews all meet Indonesian Maritime requirements for large vessels, far surpassing "recreational boat'' standards. We have a 12 man life raft, 2x lifebuoy rings, 150% of max capacity life jackets (including children's sizes) and our 4m unsinkable dingy / lifeboat is there for your safety as well as recreational use. Fire extinguishers, safety systems and stability are all reviewed 3 monthly to maintain compliance & externally inspected annually for recertification.

Sun deck and roof hotspot for the brave by day and preferred chill zone at night for breezy star gazing.
